Dear Friend:
There are many ways to ask people for money. None of them, though, are easy. However, if your cause is just and you have a special feeling for the people you ask...well, that can help a lot.
Who We Are:
New York Vietnam Veterans Foundation (NYVVF) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit humanitarian and educational organization. It was founded to improve and enrich the lives of America's veterans in New York State. The Fund's office is located in Westbury, NY. The main objectives of the Fund are to:
What We Do:
Established in 1991, the Vietnam Veterans Assistance Fund was founded by and for Vietnam veterans. The Fund is committed to serving today's needy veterans and their families by awarding grants to organizations that address essential employment, housing, education and medical needs.
Programs:
One of the programs that we support is the Service Officers Program. This program consists of two paid Service Officers, one full-time out of the Buffalo, NY, VA Regional Office (VARO) and three on a part-time basis out of the New York City VARO. They utilize state-of the-art computers and other office equipment provided by the Vietnam Veterans of America - New York State Council (VVA-NYSC).
These Service Officers assist volunteer and paid Service
Officers from county agencies, which have the Vietnam Veterans of America "Power
of Attorney" and they send cases to the VAROs. They also take in some cases on
their own. In the last year, this program brought in approximately $5.5 million
in compensation for disabled veterans.
The VVA - NYSC hopes to operate the Service Officers Program for years to come.
However, these operations could not continue without the financial support
received from NYVVF. The VVA - NYSC is very grateful for these funds, as are all
those veterans who have benefited from this program.
In order to continue the work and the quality of VVA - NYSC service in the years ahead will depend, in large measure, upon the support of those who believe in us...people like you!
The enclosed brochure tells the whole story. I hope you will read it thoughtfully and return the enclosed envelope along with your check to New York Vietnam Veterans Foundation (NYVVF).
Sincerely,
Francisco Muņiz III
