Owego, NY June 17, 2006: Queensbury resident Ned D. Foote was re-elected President of Vietnam Veterans of America - New York State Council (VVA-NYSC) by the delegates from VVA Chapters across New York State for the 2006-2008 term.
This former Marine served in Vietnam in 1968 to 1969 and was severely wounded while on a patrol along the DMZ line.
He started working with fellow veterans earnestly in 1981 when he joined Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA). He is co-founder (charter member) and past president of VVA Chapter #79 (Adirondack) and has held many positions within the local and state organization. He also has served as the Treasurer of the VVA-NYSC and has held positions at the National and State committees.
Vietnam Veterans of America - New York State Council is comprised of 38 VVA Chapters throughout New York State with 4,900 members.
Three other State Officers also were elected. Grant T. Coates (Sidney, NY), Vice President; Francisco Muņiz III (Westbury, NY), Secretary; and Nicholas DeLeo (W. Henrietta, NY), Treasurer.
In addition, there were 4 State District Directors: Eastern District, Sam Hall (Fort Ann, NY); Central District, John Lamanna (Syracuse, NY); Southern District, Conrad Steers (Hicksville, NY); and Western District, Ted Wilkinson (Warsaw, NY).
Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is the nation's only congressionally chartered veterans service organization dedicated to the needs of Vietnam-era veterans and their families. VVA's founding principle is Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another.
